The tech industry has always been community led and here at xTEN we very much follow that mantra. We are always looking for ways to chip in, whether that’s hosting and attending events, contributing code or offering free SQL tools.
We run the Leeds Data Platform & Cloud group, which is for anyone interested in learning more and/or sharing their knowledge of the Microsoft Data Platform or Azure cloud computing services.
Every year we host Data & Gravy, which is a SQL and Azure mini conference that obviously includes a Yorkshire pudding and a pint at the pub.
DataDrinks is a community-run social for all us data folks. It is an informal get together for data professionals. It involves a few drinks, laughs and time to learn something new.
SQL Bits is the largest Microsoft Data Platform conference in Europe for data professionals and we get involved with the event every year.
We sponsor DataGrillen which is an event that combines data, bratwurst and beer.
Our team contributes to this open-source application that offers decentralised SQL server performance monitoring.
Alongside these events, we have developed a specialist tool with a powerful free community version. The application is a SQL server management tool called Aireforge. It combines five separate tools that will help simplify database management by analysing your server and finding issues that could be slowing your system down. We promote this tool to our clients to use before they come to us for a paid service so they can assess if the issue can be rectified in-house or if they need our expertise.
